Self Observed is a personal health-tracking app for self-experimentation. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and what control you have over it. We treat everything you log as sensitive health data.
Who we are

What we collect
- Account details: your email address and a securely hashed password.
- Health and wellbeing entries you choose to log, such as fasts, glucose, ketones, meals, energy, brain fog, hunger, and menstrual cycle information, each with the time and timezone you recorded it.
- Fast plans and settings you create in the app.
- Basic technical data needed to run the service, such as session tokens and security audit records (for example, sign-ins and account changes).
How we use it
- To provide the app: store your entries and show them back to you.
- To keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
- To send account emails such as password resets.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use third-party analytics or ad trackers. Self Observed does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Where it is stored and who processes it
Your data is stored on servers in the European Union (Germany). We use a small number of service providers to operate the app, for example for transactional email delivery, push notifications if you enable them, and file storage. They process data only to provide those services. We keep raw health values out of our logs and error reports.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time. Deletion starts with a 30-day grace period, after which your data is permanently removed. Backups may retain deleted data for a limited period until they roll off.
Your rights
You can export your data as CSV from the app. Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Children
Self Observed is not intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email.
